Big news: the Goldener Hirsch in upper Deer Valley is expanding, building out the last parcel in Silver Lake. Summit Sotheby’s International Realty will be the listing broker for the development, but the project is so early in the planning stages that there are very few official details to share. However, this is exciting enough to warrant a little recon. Sign up for news on this project as it is released.
Here is the full planning commission packet (.pdf) regarding the initial expansion concepts.

The parking lot at Silver Lake below (to the east of) Stein Eriksen Lodge and the empty lot next to it will be the new project. In the renderings you can see the existing road, Sterling Court, (that goes to the Inn at Silver Lake and the underground parking at Mont Cervin Plaza) will go through the project, with the original Goldener to the east and the new buildings to the west of the road.
The preliminary plans call for 34-38 condominium units, keyed for lockouts to maximize rental revenue (so the master bedroom could be rented separately from the kitchen/living room, etc.). This lockout concept is very common in Silver Lake; the Chateaux at Silver Lake and Stein Eriksen Lodge are two perfect examples.

The main hotel building will likely see a facelift, but will continue to operate as a hotel.

Olsen Kundig architects and the same designer as the St. Regis in Aspen, Colorado.

The concept’s theme is a focus on high-end amenities (such as a rooftop pool) and guest services to maximize rental revenue.
Obviously, I will let you know as more details trickle out. But if you are at all interested in this project please let me know right away. There will be very high demand for this product, especially being the very last parcel in Silver Lake that can be built on. There will likely be a release with a reservation process, so we will definitely want to have our research done, money in place, and all other ducks neatly in a row long before that process opens up.
